The New York based fur trade vessel Tonquin; dubbed by some America's "Mayflower of the West" had come under attack by the warriors of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, which resulted in her violent destruction and the deaths of all aboard, save one. In recent years some tantalizing new clues as to the final resting place of this Holy Grail of British Columbia shipwrecks have come to light."
