“My intention with this design is to capture the healing/growing process of reconciliation today through use of symbolism and traditional meanings.
The central design of a blooming flower is intended to symbolize regrowth and recovery, whilst the hummingbirds that accent the piece portray optimism and hope.
You are growing and changing everyday. May your resilience continue to let you grow stronger.”
Koyah Morgan-Banke from Toquaht Nation, Ucluelet Secondary Student, Class of 2023.
Wearing an orange shirt is a national movement to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools and those children that never came home.
